Welcome to
Coral Springs

The planned community of Coral Springs, Florida was originally conceived by Coral Ridge Properties, who derived the city's name from its company name.  Coral Springs real estate and its residents have grown quickly from the city's original charter date in July 1963.  Coral Springs maintains its artistic appeal through stringent codes enforced by the local government.  Since 1993, the Coral Springs Economic Development Foundation has helped Coral Springs real estate become one of the premiere communities to work, live and raise a family.  Just some of the recent accolades that have been bestowed upon the community of Coral Springs include: 27th Best Place to Live in the US by Money Magazine in 2006, one of the 100 best communities for kids by America's Promise in 2007 and the 10th Safest City in the US by Morgan Quinto in 2007.

~Coral Springs History
Coral Springs real estate was originally part of 20,000 acres of marshland owned by Henry Lyons from 1911-1939.  After a series of floods hit the area in 1947, the Central & Southern Florida Flood Control District (currently South Florida WMD) drained the area with a series of levees and canals.  Once the land was cleared, the area was mostly initially used for bean farming and then, with the death of Henry Lyons, his heirs began cattle farming.

Coral Ridge Properties bought the land in 1961 and began developing the master-planned community that became Coral Springs in July 1963.  The first elections for government officials occurred in 1967.  The rapid population growth into the Coral Springs real estate market created a need for 19 public schools, shopping centers, a mall and parks within its first 30 years of existence.  Coral Springs reached the developer's idea of residential potential in 2003 and is well on its way to realizing the developer's ideal commercial potential.
